Cardiff struggle without Jay
Swansea dominated this South Wales derby to a degree that was, at times, embarassing for their hosts. They were far better at retaining posession and created more chances. Cardiff’s front-line looked blunt without Bothroyd. The hype inevitably follows Craig Bellamy but he could only spurn the chances that came his way.
Healy back and on the scoresheet
It has been disappointing to see David Healy drift into obscurity over the last few years. He has made an immediate impact at Doncaster, with a winning goal on debut. With no Billy Sharp and a tough run of games, he will be crucial for Donny over the next couple of weeks. Keep scoring and this might be the turning point his career so badly needs.
Hurt for Hull
A cruel 89th minute Scunthorpe winner leaves Hull winless in 7 and with only a single goal keeping them above the relegation zone. The problem lies up front; only Sheffield United have scored as few goals as the Tigers. Jay Simpson, a pricey purchase from Arsenal, has no goals from 11 appearances. Rowan Vine arrived on loan from QPR and failed to address the problem. It seems likely that Nigel Pearson might need to have another go in the loan market to halt the drought.
