2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Odds

Sometimes, placing wagers on WC qualifiers fixtures can be even more exciting than the actual tournament itself. And there is little doubt that it is a highly popular gambling option for many people. Online sportsbooks tend to get many people placing wagers on their favoured teams during the qualifying rounds. So, which sites provide the best World Cup qualifiers betting odds for you to take advantage of?

World Cup Qualifiers Fixtures

While the World Cup qualifiers began back in 2019, various things have caused disruption to matches taking place – most prominently the COVID-19 pandemic. Games are still ongoing to determine which teams will manage to advance to Qatar to play in the group stages. So far, 29 teams have qualified for the tournament, with just a few more to be decided. The remaining matches to be played out are as follows:

  • Scotland Versus Ukraine on June 1 at Hampden Park
  • Wales Versus either Scotland or Ukraine on June 5
  • United Arab Emirates Versus Australia on June 6 at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium
  • Peru Versus either United Arab Emirates or Australia on June 13 in a Play-Off Match at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium
  • Costa Rica Versus New Zealand on June 14 in a Play-Off Match at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium
  • Brazil Versus Argentina on September 22 in a Rescheduled Game from 2021

The outcome of the Brazil versus Argentina game will not matter, as both teams have already qualified for the Qatar World Cup, and even if Brazil loses, the team will remain at the top of their group.

Because Scotland and Wales have been pitched in the same path, it means that the two teams will play one another for a spot at the world cup should Scotland manage to get passed Ukraine in the play-off semi-final.

World Cup Qualifiers: Scotland Vs. Uraine

The game between Scotland and Ukraine is likely to provide quite the entertaining bout, as the former has not lost its previous eight matches and the latter hasn’t lost its last seven matches. The last time these two teams met was in a UEFA Euro 2008 Group B qualifying game, which Scotland came out as the winner of in a 3-1 outcome. One year prior to that, Ukraine had beaten Scotland in a 2-0 finish. The match on June 1 will also serve as a Nations League game. If you want to get involved in World Cup qualifiers betting, then you could visit the Bet.co.za platform, where you can even bet on either time to score an own goal, with the sportsbook offering 7.50 odds on a positive outcome on this and 1.07 odds on a negative one.

World Cup Qualifiers: UAE Vs. Australia

When it comes to the game between the UAE and Australia, it is implied that the latter team will walk away with the victory and qualify so as to take on Peru. The average stats relating to Australia dictate that they generally score around 2.4 goals in WC qualification matches and benefit from a 58% possession of the ball. The UAE isn’t so far behind in this respect, controlling the ball for 56% of their matches in history, although have suffered from more yellow cards. Safe options to wager on at World Cup qualifiers betting sites include the over 0.5 goals, with both teams having a 95% chance of success on this. You may want to lean in favour of Australia for over 1.5 goals, and both teams have around a 50% chance of scoring in both halves. In the last five years, the teams have gone head-to-head in just a single match, which the UAE won 1-0. The Yonibet platform is a great one for betting on this match.

World Cup Qualifiers: Costa Rica Vs. New Zealand

With regard to the Costa Rica versus New Zealand international match taking place on June 14, the odds lean in favour of the former team being successful. The teams have never faced each other in head-to-head competition before, making this quite a unique World Cup qualification match in its own right. The last international friendly played by New Zealand occurred on January 28, and this saw the team lose to Jordan 3-1. Odds suggest that Costa Rica will be the first team to score, and this bet will be available at Sportaza for you to get involved in, too.

Best World Cup Qualifiers Betting Markets

It is natural for soccer games of any kind to feature different markets at online bookies. And as is the case with all sporting events, some markets serve as better betting options than others for you to get involved in. The FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers table has already been largely filled, but a few more matches remain to play out. So, what are the best options to bet on when it comes to the WC qualifiers table?

Fifa wordlc cup betting

World Cup Qualification Match Winner

Usually, most people will set about placing wagers on the final outcome of the match. So, whether this sees you wagering on a win for team A, team B or a draw, there are ideal odds for you to take advantage of in all aspects. Of course, the remaining teams are looking to get into the group stages, with the match between Scotland and Ukraine being part of the FIFA World Cup European qualifiers stage. As the most popular sports betting option for World Cup games, this is the one that many people bet on, and it serves as an easy one to understand. So, if you’re a newcomer to soccer betting, then the Match Winner is a great market to select.

For an exciting experience with Match Winner betting, we recommend placing your wagers at Bet.co.za. The odds are always highly competitive at the site for this market.

World Cup 2022 Qualifiers Both Teams to Score (BTTS) Betting

Always considered to be a great betting market for football, the BTTS option requires you to wager on if you believe both teams involved in a game will score at least one goal each. The action during the World Cup is usually thick and fast, and this even relates to the qualifier matches as well. Therefore, it can often be expected that both teams participating will score at least one goal, especially when they’re trying to get through the World Cup qualifiers in Europe and Asia. You can experience great BTTS markets at the Sportaza online sportsbook. The final result of the match in question has no bearing on whether you win this wager. It just requires both participating teams to score a goal.

World Cup Qualifiers Betting Goalscorers

If you consider yourself a little bit more of a risk-taker, then you can back certain players on the teams to be the goal scorers within a match. World Cup qualifiers betting platforms will always highlight team members who are likely to do so, giving you the chance to have a punt on them following through with such. Take a look at the 1xBet site for example, as this usually provides a variety of compelling markets, such as specific goal scorers. Provided the player(s) you have backed score goals in the game, then you win your wager(s). As noted previously, World Cup games often play out with more intensity than standard games, and with a few teams still looking to qualify, this will definitely be the case in the World Cup qualifiers for 2022.

Corners Betting in World Cup Qualifiers Fixtures

Choosing to bet on this market sees you determining whether you think there will be over or under a certain number of corners awarded and taken within a match. This is a bit more of a specialist wager but can prove to be an inviting one at several online sportsbooks. The Bet365 platform does provide the possibility for its registered users to bet on corners in football matches. Usually, you can wager on whether there will be over/under 10 or 11 corners or try to bet on an exact number in the match.

World Cup Qualifiers 2022 Double Chance Wagers

Some bettors prefer not to be so restricted as to choose just a single outcome of a game. Instead, they opt for the Double Chance market, which does widen the potential for a winning outcome. Through this, you get to wager on two of the three outcomes of the end result – Team A wins, Team B wins, or a draw occurs. Because you get to back two of those outcomes though, the odds are generally not as good as if you were to simply back one, for obvious reasons. The Supabets platform is a great one to become a part of for Double Chance betting.

Betting on Goals Over/Under in the FIFA World Cup Qualification Matches

If you don’t want to be so specific when it comes to the score or the number of goals being scored, you can always go for an over/under option. This market allows you to place a wager on more than a certain number of goals being scored. Join the Hollywood Bets sportsbook and you’ll be able to see such markets. The goals over/under market takes all goals scored in the game from both teams into consideration, so if you have the option of betting on over 2.5 goals or under 2.5 goals being scored, then regardless of which teams scores them (or doesn’t), they contribute to these markets.

Correct Score Betting in the WC Qualifiers Fixtures

One final market to take notice of when it comes to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification matches is the Correct Score. Just about all sportsbooks provide odds for this market too, with NordicBet being one of our favourites for it. This is a much more specific market than the over/under option mentioned above, as you need to predict the exact score by full time (although half time correct score markets also exist to get involved in). This is something that those who are a little bit more experienced with sports betting may want to wager on, and usually you will find Correct Score markets come with better odds attached to them.

How to Bet on the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier Matches

So that you can get involved in placing bets on the World Cup qualifiers in Africa, Europe, Asia and so on, you need to ensure that you hold an account at a good online sportsbook. Various platforms cater to the South African market, ensuring that there are plenty for you to choose from as a bettor. You can follow our simple guide below to registering and then enjoying the World Cup qualifiers betting sites to the best of your advantages.

  1. Locate a recommended online sportsbook and click on the ‘Join’ button to start the registration process.
  2. Complete your sign-up and then visit the cashier page. Select a preferred payment method to make a deposit and, if receiving a promotion, ensure you meet all of the necessary criteria.
  3. Locate the World Cup qualifiers that you want to bet on and the related markets. Check the odds are suitable for you.
  4. Enter an amount to bet on the market and then add it to your bet slip to complete the wager.

World Cup Qualifiers In-Play Betting

2022 FIFA World Cup minWhen it comes to sports betting in general, you will usually have the option of engaging in pre-match wagering and in-play wagering. The latter also goes by the name of live betting. This presents an ideal alternative option to go for, as it provides you with an in-the-moment betting experience. You can watch as things play out, with real time stats and information being streamed to the sportsbook and then you place bets in response to that. The odds can change quite rapidly when you engage in in-play betting, as the action on the pitch is often so fast-paced. If you’re new to this type of betting though, you may want to take notice of a few hints and tips to assist in getting used to it.

First of all, we recommend that you scout out the wagers that you’re going to watch prior to the game starting. Live betting is very much a fast-moving scene. Bets and numbers will fly at you much quicker than in pre-match betting, so if you aren’t prepared for it, you may end up missing out on a profitable bet. This is why it is ideal to know what you want to wager on, and when, before the match begins. You won’t know if the right moment for placing a live bet is going to come up until the game plays out. But you need to be on the ball, so to speak, if it does.

You should also make sure that you use the Better Odds button. Most online sportsbooks provide this on their live betting pages, although it is provided against the option of taking a bet no matter what the odds are. Taking any odds can be hugely detrimental to your bankroll, because lines and odds can shift dramatically, so you shouldn’t ever select this option. Instead, select to take any odds that are better than the ones you initially selected. It’s pretty much a common-sense answer, right?

And just to make additional points – don’t lose sight of your betting activity and don’t end up betting against yourself during in-play wagering. In-game betting allows for you to reel off a selection of different bets in rapid succession, and this can lead to you not realising how deep into things you are. Retain control of your funds and only place a bet when the value is there to capitalise on. And while betting against yourself sounds like something that wouldn’t ever happen, the speed in which live betting takes place can see you wager on a specific market only to find out a short while later that you bet against an existing wager of yours.

Finally, it is key to never place in-play wagers in order to chase your losses or bad bets. This almost invariably always leads to a downward spiral that you do not want to get stuck in. If you lose a wager, forget about it and move on to the next or walk away from the sportsbook. Betting on the FIFA World Cup European qualifiers and so on should be a fun pastime, not something that you use to try and build up a decreased bankroll in specific.

Our top three online South African sportsbooks to enjoy live betting at are:

  • Sportaza – 100% Up to R1,600 on First Deposit
  • Bet.co.za – 100% Up to R1,000 on First Deposit
  • Bet365 – Bet €10 and get €50 in Free Bets

World Cup Qualifiers 2022 Betting Strategies

So, now that you’re all geared up for betting on the World Cup qualifying matches, what do you need to do to make sure you’re in a better position with your wagers? Of course, it cannot be guaranteed that you will win your wagers at any time, but you can enhance your experience with one or two hints and strategies to sports betting. Take a look at these strategies and try incorporating them into your World Cup qualifiers betting activity.

Understand the Qualification Process

You should definitely be aware of the various formats and details surrounding the different federations associated with the World Cup qualifying matches prior to betting on them. Of course, with only a few games left to play in 2022, this would be of much more use at the start of such. However, you should still be aware of them before formulating any kind of strategy. A UEFA qualification match should not be approached in the same way as a CAF qualification, for example. Different World Cup fixtures come with different pressures and requirements.

Watch Out for and Take Notice of Momentum

Make sure that you take a look at the way the fixtures have been drawn, especially when it comes to federations with a main group stage, such as UEFA (offering the World Cup qualifiers in Europe) and CONMEBOL (providing the World Cup qualifiers in Latin America). International football does not usually play out in the same way that national football matches do. Managers have to try a lot harder to gain any sense of momentum, so once a team starts building such up, make sure you take notice of it.

Take Wales for example. The team started with three relatively easy matches for the Euro 2016 tournament qualification before entering into a series of tougher match-ups. Wales gained confidence in itself from those early victories before going on a grand run, gaining seven points in two games against Belgium and one against Israel. The team’s odds to qualify for Euro 2016 did shorten quite a lot after those three games, but if you had noticed the momentum they were gaining initially, you could have benefitted from bets on Wales. The same applies to qualifiers in the World Cup.

Are Any Key Players Injured or Out?

The World Cup qualifiers table will change pretty swiftly, which is the same with many major tournaments of this nature. What would happen if Andriy Yarmolenko wasn’t able to play for Ukraine against Scotland? Or if Trent Sainsbury couldn’t make it to the pitch when Australia plays against the UAE? The form of the teams would undoubtedly be affected, and the World Cup qualifiers results would maybe not be as you’d expect them to be. The odds of a team qualifying for the World Cup that doesn’t have a team featuring important players will therefore lengthen in most cases. Perhaps you could use this as your time to jump on a couple of bets, because the odds will shorten again in time. So, be certain to stay on top of the players participating in upcoming matches and stay informed on the latest news.

Analyse the History of the Teams in Qualifying Matches

Before looking at the odds on the teams looking to qualify to Qatar, you need to look into their history in qualifiers. Just because a team has been given decent odds to qualify this time doesn’t mean that they necessarily will. Imagine if you placed a bet on a team that was given great odds and then they failed, only to see that in their past several qualifying matches they have also failed. The England team is a good example when it comes to qualifying history. Despite the team’s inabilities at winning the World Cup in recent years (as well as other tournaments), England have always been a good side when it comes to qualifying. Poor performance during the main tournament does not necessarily mean a team is bad when it comes to the qualifying rounds.

World Cup Qualifiers 2022 Bet Offers in South Africa

While the main tournament of the World Cup is probably what most bookies will be focusing on when it comes to promotions, some of these perks also cater to the qualifying rounds, too. So, if you have the option of taking advantage of such, then you should strongly consider it. They can enhance your overall gambling experience.

Free Bets

Various online sportsbooks provide free bets to players, especially as newcomers. Sometimes, these can be provided as sign-up offers, as in the case of Hollywood Bets which offers R25 free to anyone signing up, or given to you once you make a bet, which is what Bet365 provides with its €50 free on top of a €10 wager. Free bets usually have certain criteria to be met in terms of the markets and odds that they are placed on, but these can often be achieved easily enough.

Bonuses

Another option that is popular at South African online betting sites is the ability to obtain bonuses. These are almost always given on top of a first deposit and provided in the form of a percentage of that amount. Usually, this is a 100% reward, which is what the Sportaza platform provides. The offer there comes with a maximum reward of R1,600 for you to benefit from when you make a first deposit. Bonuses often come with wagering requirements to meet as well, so be sure to check into the T&Cs of the reward before claiming it.

Accumulator Boosts

Let’s say that you want to place a bet on more than one qualifier match at a time. You could combine these into one single bet in the form of an accumulator (acca). Some online sportsbooks offer their players boosts for their acca bets as well, such as the Playabets sportsbook with its Multiple Bet Bonus of up to 100% extra on accumulators. The general idea with such a reward is that the more selections you have in your acca, the better the extra percentage bonus is that you can acquire from such a bet offer.

Enhanced Odds

Take a look at NordicBet, which offers Price Boosts for you to benefit from, as do some other online sportsbooks. Enhanced odds of this kind will always stand out as being ideal to take advantage of because they ensure that your payout for a winning wager is boosted. Therefore, if you’re quite sure of a specific outcome occurring on a qualifier betting market and you can also enjoy enhanced odds on it, then go for it!

Cash Out

While this isn’t specifically an offer, it can be ideal to take advantage of while engaging in live betting. The cash out function essentially allows you to remove a wager before the game in question is over. Partial and full cash out functions are available at Bet.co.za, allowing you to take full control of your betting. So, if you see that a match isn’t playing out in the way that you expected, you can minimise your losses by finishing the wager early, or even if you see that you are already in profit and you don’t want to lose any of it.

World Cup Qualifiers Table

World Cup qualification is something that is a grand operation within itself, thanks to the fact that there are 210 FIFA member associations, all of which have registered to qualify for the World Cup. Qatar is the only one that hasn’t had to do so, because it is serving as the host country for the 2022 event. Below, you will see the WC qualifiers table, displaying each of the teams that have made it to the group stages of the World Cup already.

World Cup qualification is split up into six areas, defined by their geographic location. They are as follows:

World Cup Qualifiers Africa

caf logoIt is the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that oversees the qualification for African teams into the World Cup. As you can see from the table previously displayed, the World Cup African qualifiers exist in Ghana, Morocco, Tunisia, Cameroon and Senegal. A total of 53 national sides battle it out to achieve the final five places. In the first round, the lowest ranked 26 teams play 13 two-legged matches, one at home and one away, with the winners advancing into the second round. The remaining teams are then brought into the competition. Two-legged ties are once again played, both home and away, with the winners going on to round three. The final 20 teams are then divided into five groups and after a round robin format of matches takes place, the five teams at the top of their groups advance to the World Cup group stage.

World Cup Qualifiers Europe

UEFA logoWhen it comes to the European nations, 13 countries will advance through to the group stages in Qatar, with the competition overseen by UEFA. Unlike other federations, UEFA does not have an early round of fixtures for the lower ranking teams. Instead, just two rounds exist. The first of these divides up the 52 teams into nine groups (seven groups of six and two groups of five). Teams play against one another at home and away in a round robin format, with only the winners of the groups being guaranteed a place as WC qualifiers from Europe. The eight best runners-up will then go to the play-offs, with home and away games played in two legs to decide the final four teams to advance to Qatar.

World Cup Qualifiers Asia

AFC LogoThe Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the federation responsible for controlling the qualifying sides from Asia. A total of 46 teams all battle it out for a place in the World Cup, with a two-legged first round between the 12 lowest ranked national sides taking place first. Six winning sides are then added to a group stage, featuring eight groups of five teams. Following a round robin format, the eight group winners as well as the four best runners-up will advance to round three. Round three is another round robin, featuring groups of six teams. Nations finishing in the top two qualify for the World Cup and two third-placed teams heading to the inter-confederation play-offs. So far, participants from Asia include Saudi Arabia, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, and the UAE if they beat Australia.

World Cup Qualifiers North America, Central America & the Caribbean

concacaf qualifiersThe Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (abbreviated to a much easier CONCACAF) is responsible for overseeing the 35 teams vying for three spots at the World Cup. As can be seen, Mexico, Canada and the United States have all qualified for Qatar in 2022. A strange and complex process occurs for this federation’s team, with the 14 lowest ranked teams being drawn to play in two-legged knockout ties. Seven winners are added to the teams ranked between nine and 21 for another two-legged knockout round. This leaves 10 teams, plus the seventh and eighth ranked teams for a further six two-legged knockout ties. The remaining teams enter the fourth round and join there with the six winners from round three. These are then split into groups of four for a round robin stage. The top two teams at the end will progress on to the fifth round, known as the hexagonal. This is because the final round consists of a large group of six teams playing each other at home and away, with the top three teams qualifying!

World Cup Qualifiers South America

CONMEBOL qualifiers minIf you want a simpler process, then the CONMEBOL federation of South America is the way to turn. Only 10 teams exist in this federation, so no qualifying rounds need to be played. A single round robin group stage takes place with all 10 teams playing against one another at home and away. The top four teams qualify for a spot at the tournament, with Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay gaining those positions. The fifth team – in 2022’s case, Peru – goes into the inter-confederation play-offs. Peru is set to face off against the winner of the UAE versus Australia game this year.

World Cup Qualifiers Oceania

OFCThe Oceania Football Confederation is the very last one to speak of, although there is no guarantee of a spot for any team at Qatar. Only a spot at the inter-confederation play-offs is guaranteed. Seven nations exist in the OFC – the Cook Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Tahiti. Three initial rounds are played before the second stage final is held. At the end of March, New Zealand defeated the Solomon Islands 5-0 to advance to the play-offs where they will face Costa Rica.
