Michael Ludrup has attracted the interests of two of his former clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona and according to former Blaugrana defender Albert Ferrer, the Swansea manager could end up with any of those two La Liga clubs in future.

Michael Laudrup has been linked with Real Madrid but he wants to stay at Swansea

Laudrup guided Swansea to their first major trophy as the Wales club defeated Bradford 5-0 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday and thereby booked a place in the Europa League as well.

The former Barcelona and Real Madrid player has one more year left in his contract and has been linked with Madrid and Chelsea. Ferrer, the former Barcelona and Chelsea full back, commented on his situation as quoted in the BBC:

“He could go to Real Madrid or Barcelona. He has been a player of both teams. Barcelona supporters and Real Madrid supporters all love Michael Laudrup because of the way he is.”

“So he could end up in any of those two big teams.”

The question now emerges is: What next for him?

First and foremost, Laudrup himself has reiterated that he wants to stay at the Wales club. He has just initiated good work and wants to achieve more successes with the team. In fact, after winning the trophy on Sunday he insisted that it meant a lot to him, more than any other achievements in his career.

However, for the sake of conjecture, he might try himself in other big clubs as well if offers come in his way. For instance, he could join Everton if David Moyes chose to leave the club or he could also be tempted to join Arsenal, if Arsene Wenger steps down from the managerial role.

He has been linked with Chelsea though but highly improbable the deal will ever materialize. There are only two ways, through which one can apply for the post of Chelsea. First, one has to have an outstanding resume and secondly, he must be a close friend of the owner. Neither of the two is applicable for him.

Madrid could be a possibility, definitely. Jose Mourinho would be departing in summer and the club could bring him back. In fact, the 48-year-old recently won 72% of the votes in a poll among Real Madrid supporters on who should succeed the special one at the Bernabeu.

Likewise, Barcelona need a proper manager in place and a club hero like him would be more than just perfect. Tito Vilanova is in New York receiving treatment for cancer and there is no guarantee that he would continue for much longer.

These are all conjectures. He has no specific reasons to leave Swansea. He has just started his managerial career and is enjoying working with the club. But, as they say, in football, nothing is predictable and he might be drawn into media’s transfer maelstrom in four months’ time from now.
