Vidal has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with the saga threatening to become the longest-running in this summer’s transfer window, but now Chilean newspaper El Mercurio has reported that the midfielder is all set to join Louis van Gaal’s revolution, agreeing to a four-year deal worth £120,000-a-week.

In an interesting development, La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the medical tests Vidal underwent in Turin yesterday as he returned from his post-World Cup holiday was actually a pre-medical examination performed at United’s request!

With Michael Carrick out for up to three months, the need for midfield reinforcements has become an absolute necessity for Van Gaal as he prepares for his first Premier League season at the helm at Old Trafford, and if the latest reports are to be believed, Vidal is set to become the new engine in the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager’s United machine.

What do you think? Could Vidal propel Man Utd back to greatness?
