As the Premier League reaches the business end of the season it is looking more and more likely that Arsenal and Mikel Arteta could win their first title in nearly 20 years.

With his 41st Birthday coming up this week Arteta could become one of the youngest managers to ever win the league, but who has been the youngest manager to lift the Premier League trophy over the years?

5. Antonio Conte (47)

The first manager on our list of youngest bosses to win the Premier League is Antonio Conte, who looks likely to depart Tottenham in the upcoming weeks after a poor season.

It was with Chelsea where Conte made his name in the Premier League however and the boss was just 47 years old when he led the Blues to the title in 2016/17.

Chelsea and Roman Abramovich (who was still Chelsea owner at the time) were impressed with Conte’s work for the Italy national team so took a chance on the 47 year old to do a job for Chelsea in 2016.

Conte brought with him his signature 3-4-3 formation which enabled the Blues to go on a remarkable 30 game unbeaten streak in the league, winning the title with just two games to spare.

4. Roberto Mancini(47)

The first of two Manchester City bosses on our list is Roberto Mancini, who won the club their first Premier League in 2012 when he was 47 years old.

Mancini was one of the most experienced managers on our list before he won the Premier League, as the Italian arrived in Manchester in 2009 with three Serie A titles to his name already.

Mancini

Mancini’s 2011/12 season provided the Premier League with one of its most iconic moments, as Sergio Aguero scored a 94th minute winner against QPR to steal the title from Manchester United when they thought they’d won it.

Martin Tyler’s commentary of Aguero scoring the game winner will forever go down in history, as will Mancini as he won Manchester City their first Premier League title.

3. Pep Guardiola (47)

Pep Guardiola is Mikel Arteta’s only other remaining competition in this season’s title race and the Manchester City boss was 47 years old when he first won the Premier League with City in 2018.

The 2017/18 season was just Pep’s second in Manchester and he secured his first league title as well as leading his side to becoming the first ever centurions in the Premier League.

Pep has now won four Premier League titles and will no doubt go down as a hero in Manchester for his time in charge so far, but this season could be out of the Spaniard’s reach with Arsenal clear at the top of the Premier League.

2. Kenny Dalglish (44)

Kenny Dalglish comes in at number two on our Sportslens list for youngest managers to lift the Premier League and the Scotsman was just 44 years old when he led Blackburn Rovers to the title in 1994/95.

Dalglish will be most remembered for his time at Liverpool as both a player and a manager, however it was at Blackburn Rovers where he earned his first league title as full-time Premier League manager.

Dalglish

One point was all that separated Blackburn from Manchester United on the final day of the season, but as Shearer famously put after the match:

“Little old Blackburn, came in and took on the might of Manchester United”

It was the likes of Alan Shearer and Tim Sherwood who would lead Dalglish to Blackburn’s first Premier League trophy in 81 years.

1. Jose Mourinho (42)

Jose Mourinho is the youngest manager to ever lift the Premier League trophy and the boss was just 42 years old when he won the title with Chelsea in the 2004/05 season.

The manager joined the Blues in 2004 following a remarkable season with Porto that saw Mourinho blow the world away as he led his side to Champions League glory.

Mourinho

Expectations of Mourinho were high at Chelsea when he first joined and the exciting manager certainly didn’t disappoint his fans, as he secured a first Premier League title for the club in 50 years.

Mourinho brought a tough demeanour with him from Portugal that changed the league forever and the Chelsea defence was one area that showed rapid improvement almost immediately.

Chelsea only conceded 15 goals in their 2004/05 title winning season, which still remains a Premier League record to this day for fewest goals conceded in a single season.

Mikel Arteta?

The current Arsenal boss is just 40 years old and with his 41st birthday coming up in just a few days, he would still become the youngest manager to ever win a Premier League should Arsenal hold on to their lead this season.
