Liverpool will be on a high after making a remarkable late comeback against Fulham to win the game 4-3. Sheffield United saw an all time Premier League low as they were battered 5-0 to Burnley. This should make Liverpool’s next game a fairly easy three points but that’s never the case when Liverpool travel down to play newly promoted teams.
Liverpool’s record
Liverpool have only won in their last six away games to newly promoted teams. That win came against Watford in a 5-0 thrashing. But Liverpool have drawn to Brentford, Fulham and Luton. The loses came against Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth.
Liverpool are putting last season’s form behind them but they need to start winning games like this if they want to be serious title contenders.
Liverpool’s away record has been poor with just two wins in seven games in the Premier League this season. The Reds will be still be hopeful of a win and to score a few goals against the worst defence in the league.
Liverpool are now 2nd in the league behind league leaders Arsenal; only two points separate the two sides.
Sheffield United’s form
Sheffield United have had the 3rd worst start to a Premier League season. On five points after 14 games they’re just behind themselves in the 2020/21 season and Portsmouth in 2009/10. The Portsmouth one was by default as they were docked nine points for entering administration due to financial struggles.
News has broken out today that Paul Heckingbottom has been sacked following Sheffield United’s awful start to the season. Former boss Chris Wilder is set to take over once again. This news could spark some life into the team to go and get a result against Liverpool.
Sheffield United are rock bottom and need four points to get out of the bottom three.
