Henderson Hot-pot Looking Be Become The Shortest-Priced Champion Hurdle Winner In History

Remarkably, when we first saw Constitution Hill on a racecourse – he WASN’T sent off as favourite.

Yes, back on December 4th 2021 the current Champion Hurdle hot-pot returned 85/40 second favourite in his debut race under rules.

However, he proved those odds to be a little bit wrong – trouncing the market leader Might I by no fewer than 14 lengths.

Since that win, the best UK horse racing betting sites have taken no chances with Constitution Hill. He’s gone off favourite in his next four starts – albeit one of those was a joint-jolly.

That came in his emphatic Supreme Novices’ Hurdle win (watch below) at the Cheltenham Festival last year, with Dysart Dynamo the other horse he shared the favourites position with.

The horse billed ‘ a monster ‘ has returned this season better than ever to win the Fighting Fifth and Christmas Hurdles.

He is now many people’s idea of the biggest Cheltenham Festival banker bet at the 2023 meeting and could even go off as the shortest-priced Champion Hurdle favourite – EVER.

The Shortest-Priced Champion Hurdle Winners Were In 1934 & 1953

With the Champion Hurdle first run in 1927, then the day one Cheltenham Festival highlight has a fair bit of history.

Over that period we’ve seen 39 winning Champion Hurdle favourites or joint-favourites. While we’ve also had 14 winners return at odds-on – the most recent being Honeysuckle 12 months ago.

From those 14 odds-on Champion Hurdle winners, the shortest-priced winners were Chenango (1934) and Sir Ken (1953), who both returned 2/5 in the betting.

Therefore, with CONSTITUTION HILL currently priced @ 1/3 with BetUK and most UK bookmakers. If he stays this price and wins – will become the shortest-priced Champion Hurdle winner in history.

Four Of The Last Five Champion Hurdle Favourites Have Won

The Champion Hurdle has also been a good race for favourites in more recent years – with four of the last five winnning.

Honeysuckle has rewarded favourite backers for the last two years, with JP McManus pair – Epatante and Buveur d’Air – the other winning market leaders.
