Auguste Rodin bounced back to form in spectacular fashion to win the Epsom Derby recently – providing trainer Aidan O’Brien with his nineth win in the world famous English Classic horse racing – but where next for the 3 year-old colt? We look at the possible Auguste Rodin entries.

Auguste Rodin Entries and Possible Targets Ahead

See below the Auguste Rodin entries for the rest of the season as the 2023 Epsom Derby winner looks to add more Group One races to his already impressive CV of wins. You can also see the latest betting odds with the best horse racing betting sites.

King Edward VII Stakes (Royal Ascot), Friday 23rd June @ 5/1

First up is a possible tilt at the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday 23rd June. The race is run over the same trip as the Epsom Derby but is a grade lower and known at the ‘Ascot Derby’.

Auguste Rodin is priced at 5/1 with the best horse racing sites for the Ascot race and it’s a contest trainer Aidan O’Brien has won twice in the last four years – including 12 months ago with Changingoftheguard, who was 5th in the Derby that year.

However, with the King Edward VII Stakes run just 3 weeks after the Derby we’ll have to see if connections of Auguste Rodin head to Royal Ascot.

Irish Derby (Curragh), Sunday 2nd July @ 4/6

Another entry that Auguste Rodin holds is in the Group One Irish Derby – this year set to be run on Sunday 2nd July, almost exactly a month after his Epsom race. The Irish Derby is also run over the same 1m4f trip as the Epsom version.

It’s another Derby that trainer Aidan O’Brien has dominated over the years – winning the prize an incredible 14 times – including three times since 2017.

Last year’s Irish Derby winner Westover ran third in the Epsom Derby, while the last horse to win both the English and Irish Derby was Australia in 2014 – Oh, and he was also trained by a certain Aidan O’Brien.

Auguste Rodin is currently as short at 4/6 for the Irish Derby.

Coral-Eclipse (Sandown), Saturday 8th July @ 5/1

The Group One Coral-Eclipse at Sandown is another race Derby winner Auguste Rodin holds an entry for and will be run on Saturday 8th July this year.

Run over a shorter trip than the Derby (1m2f) will mean a drop back in distance for Auguste Rodin should connections opt for this route. However, that’s unlikely to be a problem, especially with the stiffer Sandown finish playing to his stamina strengths.

If running here it will also be the first time that Auguste Rodin will be taking on older horses, with the Coral-Eclipse open to horses aged 3 years-old+.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien has won the Eclipse six times and needs just one more win in the Sandown race to become the most successful handler in the history of the Eclipse.

2015 Epsom Derby winner Golden Horn was the last horse to win both races in the same season, with Sea The Stars in 2009 also managing the unique double.

Auguste Rodin is priced at 5/1 to win the Coral-Eclipse

Irish Champion Stakes (Leopardstown), Saturday 9th Sept

The Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday 9th September could be a later-season target for Auguste Rodin.

This is another contest run over the shorter 1m2f trip, but it’s also another prize the Aidan O’Brien camp have dominated – winning it for the last four years and eleven times in total.

The race is open to 3+ year-olds so Auguste Rodin would be taking on the older horses again here. While the last Derby winners to win the Irish Champion Stakes in the same season was the already mentioned pair Golden Horn in 2015 and Sea The Stars in 2009.

St Leger (Doncaster), Saturday 16th Sept @ 4/1

No entry at the moment for Auguste Rodin in the St Leger at Doncaster – the final of the five English Classic horse races and run on Saturday 16th September this year.

The event is open for 3 year-olds only and Aidan O’Brien has won the St Leger six times in the past with his most recent Kew Gardens in 2018.

If Auguste Rodin, who is 4/1, heads to the St Leger, he’ll be looking to become the first Derby winner to follow-up in the Doncaster face since Reference Point in 1987.

Prix De L’Arc de Triomphe (Longchamp), Sunday 1st Oct @ 6/1

The final Auguste Rodin entry for the horse is the Prix De L’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp, which is the richest turf race in Europe at the moment.

Run over the same trip as the Derby (1m4f), the Arc is set to be run on Sunday 1st October this year and is open to horses aged 3+, but the 3 year-olds in the race get a handy weight allowance for taking on the older runners.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien has won the Prix De L’Arc de Triomphe just twice before, with Found in 2016 and Dylan Thomas in 2007.

The last Epsom Derby winners to follow up in the Prix De L’Arc de Triomphe in the same year were the familiar pair of Golden Horn (2015) and Sea The Stars (2009), so can this year’s Epsom hero Auguste Rodin follow in the hoof prints of this famous duo?

Auguste Rodin is at 6/1 to win the 2023 Prix De L’Arc de Triomphe
