Vietnam 2023 Asian Cup Preview
Vietnam go into the 2023 Asian Cup as big outsiders at wide odds of 125/1 with UK betting sites. This will be Vietnam’s fifth Asian Cup – a nation who have perhaps overachieved in their history at the tournament.
Football betting apps aren’t giving Vietnam much of a chance of even making it out of Group D, judging by the latest 2023 Asian Cup odds. They will have to get past the likes of Iraq, pre-tournament favourites Japan and Indonesia if they are to progress into the knockout stages of the tournament for a fifth time.
However, they will be quietly confident of this, given the fact they have progressed from the group stages on each of their four previous attempts. Could 2023 prove to be the year of the underdog, and are a national like Vietnam capable of making a run? Only time will tell!
Although the best online gambling sites don’t fancy Vietnam’s chance of making it to the knockout stages, they are somewhat masters of doing so. Write Philippe Troussier’s side off at your peril!
Vietnam Player To Watch
Despite coming into the 2023 AFC Asian Cup tournament in poor form, Vietnam do have some players who can make a difference and change the game in an instant. One of these players is 19-year-old future star Nguyễn Đình Bắc.
In just six caps for his country, Đình Bắc has already scored and looks to be a real threat going forward for Vietnam. The striker plays for club side Quang Nam, who he helped gain promotion from Gold Star V.League 2 to V.League 1 after winning the league.
Despite his age and relative inexperience at both club and international level, Đình Bắc clearly has ability and is certainly a player to watch for Vietnam at the 2023 Asian Cup.
