Uzbekistan 2023 Asian Cup Preview
Uzbekistan go into the 2023 Asian Cup as the eighth favourites at odds of 28/1 with football betting apps to win the tournament. Srečko Katanec’s side are second favourites to win Group B behind Australia. They really should fancy their chances of making it to the last 16 at least this year.
UK betting sites fully expect Uzbekistan to quality from Group B, more than likely as runners-up to Australia. The other two teams in their group are India and Syria – two nations who Uzbekistan will be massively confident of beating.
Uzbekistan boast some of the strongest form coming into the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, hence why the best online gambling sites have them priced as eighth favourites. Their last defeat came back at the beginning of September in a friendly with USA, and they have since won five and drawn two of their next seven games.
Their best finish was a fourth place finish at the 2011 Asian Cup, and haven’t failed to qualify for the knockout stages in the last five Asian Cup tournaments. Could 2023 be the year that Uzbekistan go all the way? We’ll find out over the course of the next few weeks in Qatar!
Uzbekistan Player To Watch
As one of the strongest nations in the tournament and many people’s outside fancy, it comes as no surprise to learn that Uzbekistan have a strong squad this year for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. They have a few stand out players in their ranks, one of which is Abbosbek Fayzullaev.
Fayzullaev has played just eight times for his country, but has scored twice. His last goal came on Christmas Day 2023, when he netted in a 4-1 friendly win over Kyrgyzstan. He is just 20-years-old and now plays football for successful Russian side CSKA Moscow.
The skilful winger has made an impact for both club and country in such a short space of time, and is certainly one to keep and eye on as Uzbekistan’s player to watch at the 2023 Asian Cup.
