Conor Gallagher is set to remain at Chelsea during this transfer window amid interest from several Premier League clubs.

Gallagher was a hot topic of conversation throughout the winter window, with clubs such as Everton, Newcastle and Crystal Palace all trying to sign the Chelsea midfielder before deadline day.

Chelsea have said today however that Gallagher will stay at Stamford Bridge for the time being, as they don’t want to offload a player of such high quality to direct competitors such as Newcastle and all other permanant offers fell short of the Blues’ valuation of their midfielder.

Palace have already enjoyed Gallagher’s talents, as the 22-year old spent last season on loan at Selhurst Park with a positive campaign earning the English midfielder a place in the Chelsea side this season.

Gallagher was expected to play a big part in Chelsea’s season this year however he has struggled to get minutes under Graham Potter, averaging just 41 minutes a game in his last 18 league matches.

The only goal Gallagher has scored this season came against Palace, as his long range strike handed Chelsea a late win over the Eagles in October.

Chelsea are also in hot pursuit of Argentinian midfielder Enzo Fernandes who impressed so much at the World Cup in December and if the Blues were to acquire their number one target then Gallagher may potentially be allowed to leave.

For now  however, Gallagher will be staying at Chelsea and Stamford Bridge unless there is a late twist on transfer deadline day.
