Tottenham’s unbeaten Premier League run ended with their 4-1 defeat to rivals Chelsea. That game saw two Spurs players red carded (Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie) and two key players (James Maddison and Micky Van de Ven) receive bad injuries. Spurs now face a difficult task in trying to get something against Aston Villa on Sunday as two more Spurs players pick up injuries.
Who are the players injured?
Ashley Phillips and Pape Sarr are the two who are a doubt for Spurs’ game against Aston Villa. Ashely Phillips may be an unknown name but he was backed to start getting minutes for Tottenham following their injuries and suspensions. He’s made cameos for Tottenham so far this season.
Spurs signed him in August from Blackburn Rovers. He is just 18-years-old which shows he’ll be one for the future with strong talent at such a young age.
Sarr is a huge blow for Tottenham as he’s become a regular starter in this Spurs team. Postecoglou addressed these injuries in his press conference. He said: “We’ve had a couple of issues out of the international break. Phillips picked up an ankle injury and will be out for a little while, which is disappointing for him.
“We’re going to look at Pape Sarr, he’s got an issue. We’ll see how he is in the next 24 to 48 hours, everyone else has come back okay.”
Who else is not available for Spurs?
Maddison and Van de Ven won’t be back until the new year. Romero and Yves Bissouma are both serving suspensions. Richarlison, Manor Solomon, Ivac Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon remain sidelined, too.
Tottenham and Aston Villa’s form
Tottenham have lost their last two fixtures that have seen them drop from 1st to 4th. Aston Villa are in good form with five wins from their last seven Premier League games. They’re in fifth just one point behind Spurs.
It will be a tense match with that in mind and you can watch this one on Sky Sports Premier League on Sunday 25th November at 2pm.
