After being rather surprisingly announced as the new Bayern Munich manager at the end of last week, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that he will attempt to recruit staff from former club Chelsea.

Bayern Munich took the decision to sack manager Julian Nagelsmann out of nowhere last week and the vacant job was quickly filled by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel will now have the remainder of the International break to assemble his new team of both players and staff that could lead the German side to their first Champions League since 2020.

Speaking shortly after being appointed as the new coach, Tuchel outlined his plans for the rest of the season as well as his plot to steal some former staff back to his team.

“My coaching staff wasn’t prepared either, so a big thank you to their families for their flexibility,” he said at his press conference.

“Arno Michels and Zsolt Low, who have been working with me for over ten years, will be there. We’re hoping to add Anthony Barry, who is currently at Chelsea.”

Bayern have struggled to reach the heights in the Bundesliga that they so often have reached in past years and it was perhaps because of their inability to hold on to first place in the league that got Nagelsmann sacked in the first place.

“The DNA of FC Bayern is all about winning, also about the way you play football. This squad is one of the most talented and best squads in Europe. I’m looking forward to working with this squad. You can compete for every title with this squad.

“Winning all titles is still possible. Therefore, it will be all about the details. I have an idea of what to do and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s about playing for all titles.”

Tuchel’s first game in charge for his new side will see his team take on Borussia Dortmund next Saturday, in one of the most important Der Klassiker’s we have ever seen.

Dortmund currently hold the advantage over their rivals, as they sit top of the Bundesliga just one point clear of Bayern who will look to re-take the lead when the sides meet next weekend.
