This City side set all kinds of records such as most points (100), most away points (50), most points ahead of second-place (19), most wins (32), most away wins (16) and most goals (106).

With a goal difference of +79 and the most consecutive league wins in history (18), this remains the most dominant side of the Premier League era.

Jose Mourinho won a second consecutive Premier League title with Chelsea in 2005/06 in the club’s centenary year and won their opening nine games in a row, the best start to a season by any side.

After winning 20 from their first 22, Chelsea finished with 29 wins and won 18 home games whilst staying undefeated at Stamford Bridge.

This side was also the first Premier League team to win against every other opposition team in a season.

Liverpool 2018/19 – 51 points (w16 D3 L0)

In 2018/19, Liverpool were undefeated at the halfway stage of the season but finished runners-up by just a point to eventual winners Manchester City who tallied 98.

This marked the most points scored by a team without winning the title and Jurgen Klopp’s side unbeaten at home in the league alongside winning 30 games.

Third-placed Chelsea finished 25 points behind Liverpool and Mohamed Salah took home the joint-Golden Boot award with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane, scoring 22 goals each.

Arsenal 2022/23 – 50 points (W16 D2 L1)

Eddie Nketiah’s 90th minute winner against Manchester United on Sunday meant that Arsenal reached 50 points at the halfway stage of the season and their 16th win so far.

According to Opta analyst, the Gunners have a 54.91% chance of winning the league compared to Manchester City’s 44.13% and have not achieved this feat since Patrick Vieira captained Arsenal to an invincible season in 2003/04.

Arsenal’s only loss in the league this season was a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford in September but after revenge at the Emirates, Mikel Arteta’s side are firmly in the driving seat for triumph.

Chelsea 2016/17 – 49 points (w16 D1 L2)
