Tottenham Hotspur have hijacked Everton’s deal for Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma and are set to sign the player on loan until the end of the season.

Earlier this month, Danjuma looked almost certain to become an Everton player and completed a medical with the Merseyside club, as well as meeting players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Frank Lampard is reported to have played a key role in the deal but was sacked as Toffees boss yesterday, leading to the collapse and U-turn with Danjuma pencilled in for a medical at Tottenham.

The 25-year-old was handed plenty of offers from Premier League sides such as Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest but has decided to make the move to north London instead.

Spurs swoop in and hijack Danjuma deal under Everton’s nose

It had already been reported by multiple major media outlets that Danjuma to Everton was everything but a done deal, having completed his medical and first interviews with the club media team.

Tottenham sit fifth in the Premier League after 21 games and their new signing will help bolster Antonio Conte’s forward line, providing luxury insurance for Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski.

Speculation over Conte’s future at Spurs has been circling for some time now and it has been reported that the club do not plan to offer the former Chelsea manager a new contract at the end of the season.

According to Premier League betting sites, Spurs are just under 3/1 to finish in the top four and earn a spot in next season’s Champions League competition.

Harry Kane trails Erling Haaland in the race to win the Premier League Golden Boot with 16 goals to the Norwegian’s 25 and faces a scrap with Brentford’s Ivan Toney for runner-up.
