Ryan Moore Dubai World Cup Tips: Cairo a Leading Chance in The UAE Derby

There is just under £15m in winners’ prize money on offer over the 8 races of Saturday’s Dubai World Cup Meeting and top jockey Ryan Moore is in action in seven of the races.

Three-time Champion jockey Ryan Moore will get the leg-up on seven horses over the Meydan meeting, including a runner in the Dubai World Cup for Japan.

Ryan Moore Dubai World Cup Meeting Rides: Saturday 25th Match 2023

12:40 – Dubai Gold Cup sponsored by Al Tayer Motors (Group 2) (Turf) (3yo+) 2m: BROOME @ 16/1

Moore told his Betfair blog readers that he feels Broome has a better chance than his odds suggest. Not getting any younger at 7 but is still showing a love for his racing and ran well in Dohan last time (5th). Draw 1 is not ideal, but the step back to 2m is expected to suit and has the past form to outrun his odds. Siskany, who won well last month, is expected to have strong claims, says Moore.

1:15 – Al Quoz Sprint sponsored by AZIZI Developments (Group 1) (Turf) (3yo+) 6f: SIGHT SUCCESS @ 7/2

First time riding this Hong Kong-based horse for Moore, but knows his a very decent sprinter. The form of his recent third has been boosted since, with the winner landing a G1. Moore says he respects Al Suhail and Al Dasim, but his hopeful of a solid e/w run from his mount and not without a chance of winning.

1:50 – UAE Derby (Group 2) (Dirt) (3yo) 1m1½f: CAIRO @ 5/2

“Can go well’ is what Moore told his Betfair followers as this Aidan O’Brien runner looks to be one of his best chances on the Dubai World Cup card. Average stuff as a 2 year-old, but seems to be maturing well at 3, while his breeding suggests the longer trip here will suit. Won well at Dundalk earlier this month and is expected to be spot-on for this. Plus, ia a race O’Brien has won 3 times since 2012.

2:25 – Dubai Golden Shaheen sponsored by Nakheel (Group 1) (Dirt) (3yo+) 6f: SIBELIUS @ 10/1

Moore feels this horses’ US form needs improving to figure here but seems to be progressing. Of the others, he thinks the more local-trained dirt runners like Switzerland, who won this race last year, can go well.

3:10 – Dubai Turf sponsored by DP World (Group 1) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m1f: ORDER OF AUSTRALIA @ 33/1

In-and-out performer these days, but heads here having won in Doha last time out. Draw one could see him get away and make this a test, which will help, but there is plenty of strong other runners in a tough race. Japan Derby winner Danon Beluga, Serifos and Godolphin’s Nations Pride are the three that Moore has picked out to run well, with Serifos edging it.

4:00 – Longines Dubai Sheema Classic (Group 1) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m4f: WESTOVER @ 11/2

Moore rides the easy 2022 Irish Derby winner here but since that easy 7 length romp at the Curragh this Ralph Beckett runner hasn’t built on that. Last seen running down the field in the Arc so more (no pun intended) needed. However, Moore thinks the horses from Japan – Equinox – will be hard to beat.

“He can do one or two things wrong in his races but basically I think if he settles, he wins. He bolts up here on his Arima Kinen form” Moore told his Betfair blog.

4:35 – Dubai World Cup sponsored by Emirates Airline (Group 1) (Dirt) (3yo+) 1m2f: JUN LIGHT BOLT @ 14/1

Last seen running 7th in the Saudi Cup (see below). Moore feels he shaped well that day and is not without an e/w squeak but would need to find some improvement too. Of the rest, Algiers gets a positive nod from Moore, but he says the 2022 winner Country Grammer, with Frankie Dettori riding, is the most likely winner for him.
