Brazilian legend Ronaldinho has revealed that his teenage son, Joao de Assis Moreira, will follow in his fathers footsteps and sign for Barcelona.

The 17-year-old played for various academies including, Belo Horizonte and Cruzerio, where he had an up-and-down journey. Mendes then went on trial for Barcelona U19, with the change of scenery clearly impacting the youngster’s confidence, as he struggled to impress in the opening few weeks.

Which even caused Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, to ask the club’s coaching staff to increase his trial and give the winger some time to adjust to his new surroundings.  The teenager began to show the undeniable talent that he’d shown in Brazil and gave the La Liga side no choice but to offer him a contract.

The 2006 Champions League winner has admitted that he still loves the Catalan side and will now be more present in the city he calls ‘home’.

Ronaldinho said: “Yes he is coming now, I’m never out of the club. Barcelona is part of life. Wherever I go I take Barcelona with me. With the arrival of my son at Barca I’ll be more present than ever.”

The 42-year-old is deemed one of the best players to ever lace a pair of boots and will be hoping that his son can follow in his footsteps when takes the stage at the Camp Nou.
