CATTERICK 4.40
CAWTHORNES GEM (system – Pivotal, first-time blinkers)
Progeny of the sire Pivotal have a good record in first-time blinkers, landing 24 of their 115 starts since 2011 (21% strike-rate) for a profit of £61.90 to a £1 level stake at SP. CAWTHORNES GEM looked in need of the step back up to 6f when beaten a little over six lengths at 22-1 at Carlisle last month and could go well in the new headgear.
FAIRYHOUSE 4.50
ROMAN HARRY (system – Ger Lyons, gelded 3yo newcomers, turf)
Ger Lyons does well with gelded three-year-old newcomers on turf, scoring with 13 of his 66 runners (19.7%) for a profit of £67.25 to a £1 level stake at SP. He has two qualifiers in this claiming stakes – Ravelli and ROMAN HARRY, with the last-named – the mount of Colin Keane – much preferred given his low draw.
BATH 7.10
SWISS MAGIC (system – Adrian Wintle, local runners)
There are only two racecourses within a 50-mile radius of Adrian Wintle’s Gloucestershire base – Bath and Chepstow – and he has a good recent record at both, scoring with 20 of his 90 Bath runners since racing resumed after lockdown in June 2020 (+£42.70 to a £1 level stake at SP) and 10 of his 66 runners at Chepstow (+£35.50). SWISS MAGIC (stall 2) looks well drawn in this 5f handicap on recent evidence and is taken to build on his recent Ffos Las 66-1 fifth.
