CLASSY CLARETS (system – 2yos, January foals, running in March/April)
Early-foaled juveniles have an advantage against their younger contemporaries at this time of year and, since 2016, had we backed January foals in March/April in Britain we’d have won 28 of our 159 bets (17.6% strike-rate) and made a profit of £52.97 to a £1 level stake at SP. Five of those were trained by Richard Fahey and three won (14-1, 11-4 and 2-1), suggesting that CLASSY CLARETS could be worth a small interest despite his wide draw.
NEWMARKET 2.25
ADMIRAL D (system Ardad, fresh, turf)
Progeny of the sire Ardad have a solid record when fresh on turf – doing well on their racecourse debuts and ran rested for at least eight weeks thereafter. Richard Fahey’s ADMIRAL D looks well drawn towards the stands’ rail on his reappearance and his last-time-out ninth of 19 at York was better than it looked as he was poorly drawn.
NEWMARKET 4.10
PERSIAN DREAMER (system – Amo Racing-owned newcomers)
Racecourse debutants owned by Amo Racing have a fine record, landing 31 of their 136 starts (23%) for a profit of £43.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. PERSIAN DREAMER’s trainer has already had two winners (12-1 and 7-2) on this system in the past few days and the 145,000euros purchase can keep the ball rolling.
KEMPTON 7.30
MAGICAL MERLIN (system – Kodiac, gelded since last run)
Progeny of the sire Kodiac are 51 from 336 (15.2%) on their first start after being gelded for a huge profit of £223.08 to a £1 level stake at SP. MAGICAL MERLIN, successful on easy ground at Windsor last summer, has been gelded over the winter and can get off to a winning start on his three-year-old debut. CONCERT BOY also qualifies on this angle in the 5.10 at Beverley today.
