CONTRE ORDRE (system – Micky Hammond/Emma Smith-Chaston trainer/jockey combination)
Emma Smith-Chaston has a useful record when riding for boss Micky Hammond, scoring on 37 of her 216 mounts (17.1% strike-rate) for a profit of £74.85 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected number of winners = 22.85). CONTRE ORDRE hasn’t shown a huge amount in three starts since leaving France, but he’s been dropped another 7lb to a mark of just 99 and could be worth chancing at a big price now Smith-Chaston is up for the first time.

UPAGAINSTIT (system – Donald McCain, first run in a handicap chase)
Donald McCain has a fine recent record with chase debutants, regardless of whether they’d run over fences previously. Since the beginning of 2021, he’s scored with 14 of the 43 qualifiers (32.6% strike-rate) for a profit of £29.43 to a £1 level stake at SP. UPAGAINSTIT, runner-up in his sole point-to-point outing, showed promise over hurdles on occasions and looks set to improve for the switch to regulation fences.

DOC MCOY (system – Jamie Snowden, third run in a bumper)
Jamie Snowden is 12 from 44 when running one in a national hunt flat race for the third time and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £15.18 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 6.55). Those who were beaten less time out while finishing within ten lengths of the winner were 11 from 27 for a profit of £29.67. Point-to-point winner DOC MCCOY kept on well to finish third, four and a half lengths behind the winner, at Southwell last time and can go two places better this afternoon.
