DONCASTER 1.50
BELALRCHI (system – Grant Tuer – fillies/mares in handicaps)
Grant Tuer has a solid record with his female handicappers, regardless of whether they were taking on their own sex or competing against male rivals. Since the beginning of 2019, he’s won with 23 of the 94 qualifiers (24.5% strike-rate) for a profit of £46.77 to a £1 level stake at SP. BELLARCHI bolted up at Hamilton when tipped in this column last week and could prove difficult to beat in her bid for a four-timer.
FFOS LAS 2.05
ZOUKSTER (system – Ed Walker 3yo sprint handicappers)
Ed Walker has a cracking record with his 3yo sprint handicappers, with 43 of the 190 qualifiers (22.6%) scoring since the start of 2018 for a profit of £48.16 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those who were beaten last time out often provide the best value, landing 35 of their 147 starts for a profit of £55.16. ZOUKSTER failed to stay the extended 1m trip at Windsor last time and looks interesting back at 6f for the first time since May’s Salisbury success.
NAAS 2.30
LAUGIER NIGHT (system – Night Of Thunder 2yos, turf)
Simply backing all juvenile progeny of sire Night Of Thunder on turf in Britain and Ireland would have found 65 winners from 364 bets (17.9%) for a profit of ÂŁ20.88 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. Those making their debut or having only their second career outing were 40 from 232 (17.2%) for a profit of ÂŁ58.37. LAUGIER NIGHT, a debutant from the in-form Noel Meade yard who cost 160,000euros, could be worth chancing. Two of his three half-siblings won on their debuts with the other finishing a respectable 22-1 eighth of 20.
EPSOM 2.50
MAGICAL MERLIN (system – Harry & Roger Charlton, first-time cheekpieces, turf handicaps)
The Charlton yard has a fine record when using first-time cheekpieces on a turf handicappers, scoring with 13 of the 48 runners (27.1%) for a profit of ÂŁ46.53 to the usual ÂŁ1 stake. MAGICAL MERLIN beat only a couple home at Windsor last time but is taken to bounce back in the new headgear.
