Tom Lacey has a fine record with runners having their first start in handicap hurdle company and he also does well with those having a second attempt. Since the spring of 2016, he’s won with 16 of the 76 qualifiers (21% strike-rate) for a profit of £25.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. COTONEASTER (system – damsire Midnight Legend, February to April)
Progeny of the sire Midnight Legend tend to come good at this time of year and it’s a similar story for horses who have Midnight Legend as their damsire, landing 42 of their 242 starts (17.3%) over jumps for a profit of £45.41. The Noel Williams-trained COTONEASTER fits the bill in an interesting bumper and could be worth chancing on her racecourse debut. Her dam, Easter Legend, had plenty of form when fresh, winning first-time out in 2008/2009 (16-1), 2009/2010 (7-1) and 2010/2011 (4-6f).
