Andrew has found winners at up to 25-1 this week and has five stats-based picks at Newbury, Sandown, Doncaster and Yarmouth on Thursday, July 27th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:
SANDOWN 3.15
EXPENSIVE QUEEN (system – Kevin Ryan, Lope De Vega)
Kevin Ryan clearly has a soft spot for progeny of the sire Lope De Vega and has saddled the likes of Mount Tahan, Flaming Spear, Ayuthhaya, Weekend Offender and Roulston Scar to multiple victories over the years. His full record with the sire stands at 25 winners from 137 runners (18.3% strike-rate) for a profit of £18.40 to a £1 level stake at SP. EXPENSIVE QUEEN contributed with a 4-1 debut success at Haydock on July 7th despite displaying obvious signs of greenness and she can maintain her 100% record by taking this 7f Listed contest.
DONCASTER 3.40
GLISTENING NIGHTS (system – Night Of Thunder 2yos on turf)
Simply backing all juvenile progeny of the sire Night Of Thunder on turf would have found 58 winners from 313 bets (18.5%) for a profit of £45.90 to the usual £1 stake. Plenty of those winners came from debutants and Richard Fahey’s GLISTENING NIGHTS could be the answer to this 7f novice contest. MIDNITE STORM also qualifies on the same system.
YARMOUTH 5.30
DESERT MASTER (system – James Tate, nursery handicaps, recent run)
James Tate’s Blue Point colt DESERT MASTER has drawn a blank from five runs but he placed in four of them with the exception – a last of seven finish at Ripon – easily excused as he failed to handle the track. His patient running style has made life difficult at Chester the last twice and this straight 5f should prove ideal. His trainer is 32 from 128 (25%) in nurseries with horses who had raced within the past 28 days for a profit of £20.89 to a £1 level stake at SP. Desert Master lines up here after a break of just 12 days.
NEWBURY 6.15
MRS MEADER (system – Julia Feilden, amateur rider races at Newbury)
Julia Feilden is nine from 36 (25%) at Newbury in races confined to amateur jockeys and backing them all would have returned a profit of £47.33 to a £1 level stake at SP. MRS MEADER was responsible for two of those wins, at 7-2 and 3-1 from three runs, and looks the answer to this 1m2f handicap.
YARMOUTH 7.00
RAMIRO (system – Racing League, last-time out winners, 4yo+)
Older (4yo+) last-time out winners have a good record at Racing League meetings, landing 15 of their 73 starts (20.6%) for a profit of £56.13 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 7.06, A/E = 2.13). RAMIRO and ADEB qualify in this 7f handicap with the first-named, successful in a big-field 6f handicap at Ayr last week, preferred of the pair.
