LIGHT AND DARK was only 13th of the 16 runners in a 7f handicap at Meydan last time but was beaten by less than four lengths and could benefit from the first-time hood today. Since the beginning of 2016, Saeed Bin Suroor is 19 from 49 when using this form of headgear for a profit of £27.80 to a £1 level stake at SP, including three wins from five for Oisin Murphy who takes the ride today.

QUEEN OF THE SKIES (system – Jane Chapple-Hyam stable switchers in handicaps)
Jane Chapple-Hyam has a solid record at the first time of asking with horses she takes over from other yards, especially in handicap company. Since the beginning of 2010, she’s won with 20 of the 114 qualifiers for a profit of £99.00 to a £1 level stake at SP, including a 9-4 Wolverhampton winner with her sole qualifier so far in 2023. QUEEN OF THE SKIES, who found only yesterday’s Group 3 Haydock winner Sea Silk Road too good in a Nottingham maiden on her debut for the Gosdens last year, didn’t progress as expected, winning just a Chelmsford novice from four subsequent starts but first-time out could be when to catch her and she’s worth chancing at a nice price.
