WAVERLEY STAR failed to see out the 6f trip at Southwell on his latest start, he was too free in the early stages in re-applied blinkers (now removed) and faded out of contention to finish in the rear. His best form to date has been over the sharp 5f trip at Musselburgh with a sole success and two places from his three visits. He makes the long journey south from his North Yorkshire base for his first visit to Lingfield and should find the tight 5f sprint trip ideal. He’s well berthed in stall four and with a race devoid of early pace he should be able to get a prominent early position and make the best of his way home. He’s worth a small buy in the 50-25-10 market or an each-way play in the Spreadex fixed odds betting.

KEMPTON 4.45
The Kevin Philippart De Foy-trained CLIPSHAM LA HABANA made a fine start to his career at Kempton when a decent third to Roger Varian’s Revenite.. Settled in midfield early, he made steady headway under hands and heels as the race developed and battled on well on the run to the line. He was sent off favourite on his next outing at Wolverhampton but failed to find a clear passage on the turn for home and was unable to peg back pace-setter The Thames Boatman. He was strongly fancied again on his latest start at Chelmsford but failed to deliver, hanging right-handed on the final turn and again finding one too good. He makes his handicap debut on his return to Kempton Park and should have no excuses this time. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or back in the fixed odds betting.
