The Tim Vaughan-trained WEAVER’S ANSWER has only encountered soft conditions on one occasion – at Ffos Las in December when finishing second at 12-1 behind 6-4 favourite and stablemate Colonial Empire (winner again since). Barrier Peaks, third in that race, is unbeaten in four subsequent outings and heads the betting for this 2m3.5f handicap hurdle but Weaver’s Answer can upset the favourite. He was only fourth at Ludlow on his next start but 2m, good ground and a sharp track provided an inadequate test of stamina and conditions should be more to his liking today. CHEPSTOW 5.25
Noel Williams is six from 40 with newcomers in bumpers for a profit of £29.00 to a £1 level stake at SP and COTONEASTER could be worth chancing on her debut. The five-year-old’s dam Easter Legend was beaten on her racecourse debut but she won first-time out in each of the next three seasons, including at 16-1 and 7-1.
