It’s Super Saturday (July 15th) and Andrew has unearthed three interesting angles for his recommended bets/trades at Ascot, Chester and Newmarket. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:
NEWMARKET SPs
The combination of rain-softened ground and a strong headwind could help to provide a few shock results at Newmarket today and a buy of STARTING PRICES with Spreadex is the recommendation. Plenty of the fancied horses on today’s card usually race up with the pace and such tactics are likely to be difficult to pull off if the headwind – forecast to gust as high as 40mph – materialises as forecast.

ASCOT JOCKEYS
Ascot are also expecting a very strong headwind today and, on a track that favours patient tactics anyway, we won’t want a horse that is anywhere near the front end in the early stages. JAMES DOYLE rides this course especially well and I’m going to buy his performance index in the Spreadex ASCOT JOCKEYS market. RAASEL, like most progeny of Showcasing, won’t mind the soft ground and could pick up points in the first-time cheekpieces in the opener (1.45), while 4-1 shot MASTER OF THE SEAS can arrive late to grab second or third in the Group 2 Summer Mile (2.20). UNDER THE SUN, trading at around 7-4 at the time of writing in the 2.55, is another obvious points contender and RHYTHMIC INTENT’s solid record in July/August suggests he could go well in the 3.30, despite a slight reservation about his run style (he raced in second place when a close-up fourth on soft ground here in May). AL NAFIR (4.05), MOUNTAIN SONG (4.40) and BUSSENTO (5.15) are all prominent in the betting and it all points to a good day for Godolphin’s number two rider.

CHESTER 2.07
HEART OF SOUL is a Chester regular and, though without a win here since June 2021, he’s worth a buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market (or an each-way bet in the fixed odds market) for this handicap over the extended 1m4f trip. He failed to see out the 2m trip on his last two course visits, loves the mud – one of his four course wins came on heavy going – and he looks very well handicapped off a mark of just 67.
Recommendation: Back HEART OF SOUL in Chester 2.07
