Andrew heads to the afternoon meeting at York where he has two recommended bets/trades on Friday, June 16th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:

YORK 1.50

It’s traditionally difficult to come from off the pace in the Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar and HIGHWAYGREY deserves extra credit for his 28-1 fifth in that contest last month, doing second best of those ridden patiently. Baryshnikov, the only other hold-up horses to beat him, only went down by a nose at Ripon on his next outing and Highwaygrey could be worth chancing now that he drops back down to Class 3 level. He’s yet to win on the Knavesmire but finished a respectable fifth of 15 on his last course visit and is 4lb lower this afternoon. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back HIGHWAYGREY in York 1.50

YORK 3.00

There’s a few that can be fancied in this 6f fillies’ handicap, not least the William Haggas-trained PINK CRYSTAL, who goes well in small fields, but the value could lie with Ben Haslam’s ORIGINTRAIL The daughter of Profitable trailed home last of six when 10-1 for a 6f fillies’ handicap at Chelmsford last August on her most recent outing but the kickback was horrendous that night and she simply didn’t face it. Since her racecourse debut her turf record reads 21125 (2-5), with the fifth place excusable as she was repeatedly denied a clear passage at Pontefract. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back ORIGINTRAIL in York 3.00
