Andrew found Fakenham winner BRANDISOVA on Friday and has four stats-based picks at Uttoxeter and Newcastle on Saturday, March 18th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:

UTTOXETER 1.15

CAN YOU CALL (system – damsire Midnight Legend, jumps, February to April)

Progeny of Midnight Legend tend to thrive at this time of year and it’s a similar story with horses who have Midnight Legend as their damsire. Backing all such runners over jumps between February and April would have found 41 winners from 236 runners (17.4% strike-rate) for a profit of £48.41 to a £1 level stake at SP. CAN YOU CALL was outclassed in Grade 2 company at Cheltenham on Trials Day but, since fitted with a tongue-tie, has form figures below Class 1 level of 121 (2-3), with the defeat by one lengths. Evan Williams’ 9-4 second favourite is better equipped to cope with the mud than Dan Skelton’s 6-4 market leader Mylesfromwicklow and I’d have him as favourite to beat that one in my tissue.

UTTOXETER 2.25

SAM BROWN (system – Anthony Honeyball, first run in a handicap hurdle)

Lightly raced 11-year-old SAM BROWN was a novice winner at Plumpton in December 2017 on his latest of two starts over hurdles and might be worth chancing at a big price on his belated handicap hurdles debut. Anthony Honeyball does well with handicap hurdle debutants, scoring with 25 of the 104 qualifiers for a profit of £76.38 and Sam Brown might be revitalised by the switch from fences after pulling up in the Denman Chase on unsuitably quick ground at Newbury last month.

NEWCASTLE 3.25

OMAR MARETTI (system – Fame And Glory, first-time cheekpieces)

Progeny of the sire Fame and Glory are 18 from 108 when wearing cheekpieces for the first time and backing them blind would have made a modest profit of £7.38 to a £1 level stake at SP. OMAR MARETTI has form figures in Class 3 or lower company of 11213 (3-5), with the latest defeat by just two lengths, and will appreciate the drop in class after contesting the Grade 3 Grand National Trial Handicap Chase at Haydock last month.

NEWCASTLE 4.00

CATLIN (system – course expert)

CATLIN has recorded three wins from three starts at Newcastle but has yet to score in 24 runs at other tracks. He returns to his favourite venue after a fair third at Catterick on New Year’s Day and won this race two years ago.
