Michael Bell is six from 18 in juvenile sellers with horses who were not making their racecourse debuts and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £14.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. PONGA, placed three times in novice/maiden company, is a rare qualifier on this angle and should go well from a handy draw in stall 6 of 8.

MISS ROBERTS (system – Ed Walker, second-time out 2yo, beaten by 5L or less on debut)
Ed Walker’s juveniles, who were beaten by five lengths or less on their debuts, are 22 from 69at the second time of asking (32% strike-rate) for a profit of £23.62 to a £1 level stake at SP. Fillies running in Class 6 company are six from 14 (+£24.94) and MISS ROBERTS, a solid second at Newmarket on her debut, can go one better.

EPSOM 3.55
CITE D’OR (system – Lester Piggott Handicap, sixth or worse last time out)
This 1m2f handicap has a history of shock results and I’ve played a few horses at double-figure odds, with Forca Timao being the main one. However, I also want to have an each-way interest on 50-1 outsider CITE D’OR, caught wide when a well-beaten sixth of eight to Savethelastdance in Listed company at Chester.
Since 2012, simply backing any horse who finished sixth or worse last time out would have found five winners from 24 bets in this Class 2 contest for a profit of £60.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. Cite D’Or, the sole qualifier on this angle, has run well on both previous visits to Epsom, finishing second by a neck at 6-1 and third by a length and a half at 33-1. She’s also won at Brighton, a track similar in nature to Epsom.
EPSOM 4.30
MAX MAYHEM (system – New Bay handicappers, top-three finish last time out)
Progeny of the sire New Bay have a great record when lining up in handicap company on the back of a top-three effort, landing 69 of their 212 starts (32.6% strike-rate) for a profit of £113.07 to a £1 level stake at SP. MAX MAYHEM won with a fair bit in hand despite the narrow margin of victory at Kempton last time and can follow up.
DONCASTER 5.40
KEY LOOK (system – Paul Midgley, summer sprints)
Since 2012, Paul Midgley is 54 from 373 (14% strike-rate) in sprint handicaps on turf in the month of June for a profit of £30.46 to a £1 level stake at SP. He had two winners on this angle at Catterick on Friday night and KEY LOOK, nibbled at in the overnight market into 14-1, is worth a small each-way play now cutting back from 7f on her second run for the yard.
