EXPENSIVE QUEEN (system – Kevin Ryan, Lope De Vega)
Kevin Ryan has done well with the progeny of Lope De Vega over the years, coaxing multiple wins out of the likes of Mount Tahan (six wins), Flaming Spear (four), Weekender Offender (four), Ayutthaya (four), Roulston Scar (three) and, more recently, Captain Winters (two). His full record with the sire is 24 wins from 136 runs (17.7%) for a profit of £14.40 to a £1 level stake at SP. Newcomer EXPENSIVE QUEEN, well named after fetching 260,000euros at the Deauville yearling sales last summer, is taken to make a winning start to her career.
HAYDOCK 7.50
RED MIRAGE (system – John Quinn, first-time visor, recent run)
In the past ten years John Quinn is nine from 41 with his first-time visored runners who had had the benefit of a recent outing (within one month) and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £23.30 to a £1 level stake at SP. RED MIRAGE hasn’t built on his seasonal/stable debut Chester fourth in two subsequent outings but progeny of Showcasing often respond well to headgear and he’s worth chancing to bounce back tonight.
HAYDOCK 8.25
FINAL CREDIT (system – New Bay, top three finish last time out)
Progeny of the sire New Bay have a great record on the back of a top-three finish, landing 112 of their 389 starts (28.8%) for a profit of £130.63 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners only 82.22). FINAL CREDIT, penalised for last month’s all-the-way novice win at Wetherby, should be suited by Haydock and can give the weight away.
