Gameweek 18 of the 2023/24 Premier League season draws to a close on Sunday, Christmas Eve, as 10th place Chelsea travel to the West Midlands to take on 13th place Wolves at 13:00, with just three points separating them in the table.
The pair come into the clash in very inconsistent form, with Gary O’Neil’s side suffering a 3-0 battering to West Ham last time out, meanwhile the Blues bested relegation-strugglers Sheffield United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Wolves enjoyed a strong spell of form from the end of October throughout September, going unbeaten with wins over Manchester City and Bournemouth, as well as draws against high-flying Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
As of late though, their form has taken quite the hit, as they have won just twice across their last seven league matches. This poor run includes defeats to Sheffield United, Fulham, Arsenal and West Ham, as well as a draw against the struggling Nottingham Forest.
Mauricio Pochettino‘s side on the other hand, have been on a tough run of fixtures in the league since the end of October. Wins over Tottenham and Brighton, as well as a draw against Manchester City have impressed fans, however defeats to Manchester United and Everton prove that they still have a way to go.
The pair last met in early April towards the end of last season, where Matheus Nunes’ first-half strike proved to be the difference as Wolves reigned victorious thanks to a 1-0 scoreline at home.
