Oli Bell Cheltenham Tip For 2023 Gold Cup

Cheltenham Gold Cup Tip: GALOPIN DES CHAMPS @ 6/4

ITV Racing presenter Oli Bell thinks the current Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite – GALOPIN DES CHAMPS – will justify his position at the head of the betting.

Bell, who knows a thing or two about picking a winning horse, feels the 7-year-old has the best credentials to land the 2023 Cheltenham Festival showcase race.

The Gold Cup trip of 3m 2 1/2f will be the furthest Galopin Des Champs has gone, but the way the horse saw out the Irish Gold Cup trip (3m) last time out suggests the extra yardage will be achievable (see video below).

Festival fans will remember the heartache of Galopin Des Champs falling at the final fence in the Turners Novices’ Chase last season. However, since that tumble, he’s bounced back to win three times and will head into the Gold Cup 5-from-6 over fences.

The Oli Bell Gold Cup tip will face a strong challenge from last year’s Gold Cup winner A Plus Tard. While he’s also likely to meet the 2022 Grand National winner Noble Yeats and King George VI Chase hero Bravemansgame.
