Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Spanish full-back Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon on loan until the end of the season, with an obligation to buy for £40 million.

Porro has been with Sporting since August 2020 when he signed a two-year loan deal, which became permanent last summer, moving from Manchester City.

Spurs right-backs Djed Spence and Matt Doherty have both left the club, the former on loan to Rennes, and the latter permanently to Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish right-back will wear the number 23 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 23-year-old opened up on his move to north London.

“I feel great about the move,” Porro said. “I really wanted to come here.

“It’s unique opportunity for me and I hope everything goes well. I can bring a lot of character and personality to this team.

“Above all, my desire and will to win. I’ve also managed to watch quite a few league games this season, I’ve been following our games too, and in this case, I can say that now! So, yes, I can provide character, desire, and a great attitude.

“And, yes, it’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid, to play in the Premier League. I hope that it comes true, goes well this Sunday, and that we pick up the win.

“For the moment, as I said, the main thing is to start well and to go on a winning run. I’m really up for it and can’t wait to get started.”

Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League table, three points behind Manchester United.

Antonio Conte’s side are currently priced at around 5/2 to finish in the top four, according to Premier League betting sites.
