Nottingham Forest are set to sign Felipe from Atletico Madrid, after reportedly agreeing a deal for the centre-back.

The Brazilian is expected to arrive in the UK this evening, where he will complete his medical ahead of a permanent move to the City Ground.

After discussions with Atletico, Forest are believed to have finally made a breakthrough in negotiations.

The move was in danger of collapsing, after Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen identified the defender as a target, but the Reds now look set to seal his signature.

A fee of around £2m is believed to have been agreed between Forest and Atleti for the transfer of the one-time La Liga champion.

Forest will look to Felipe to help bolster their backline, with Steve Cooper’s side having conceded the second-most amount of goals in the Premier League this term.

It is believed that the 33-year-old will sign an 18-month contract, keeping him in Nottingham until June 2024.

The two-time Brazil international has fallen out of favour in recent times at Atleti. He has made just three La Liga appearances for Diego Simeone’s side this season.

His last game for the Spanish side came just 16 days ago, in a 1-1 league draw against UD Almeria.

He now looks set to help Nottingham Forest’s fight for survival in the Premier League.

The Reds remain in 13th place in the Premier League table, four points above 18th place Bournemouth.

Premier League betting sites price Forest at around 11/5 to drop back down to the Championship.
