According to UK betting sites Roy Hodgson has been priced as favourite to become the next Crystal Palace manager, following Patrick Vieira’s sacking earlier today.

Crystal Palace announced the dismissal of Patrick Vieira after the Frenchman failed to win in his last 12 games at the club. The Eagles now sit 12th in the Premier League but are only three points away from the dreaded relegation places.

Supporters had been expecting to see their manager depart for the last few weeks, with different candidates being linked. The likes of Marcelo Bielsa, Ralph Hassenhuttl, and Roy Hodgson have all been rumoured to take over but it is the latter who is most likely.

The veteran manager was in charge of the Eagles from 2017-2021, keeping them in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons. However, his time came to an end following a run of poor results and his most recent tenure was at Watford in 2022.

Should Hodgson be appointed, he would become the oldest manager in the Premier League at 75. It would also be his 24th spell in management which has spanned over 46 year career. The former Watford manager has won 15 trophies in his career, but keeping Palace up would be just as important.

Crystal Palace fans will be hoping for a quick appointment, as their next Premier League fixture is an away trip to table-toppers Arsenal. It is believed that U21’s coach, Paddy McCarthy will take the reigns for the match as talks for a new manager continue.

Crystal Palace Next Manager Odds:
