Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Newcastle United are set to offer Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes a new contract amid transfer interest from Barcelona and Liverpool.

Newcastle United are reportedly set to offer Bruno Guimaraes a new contract amid transfer interest from both Barcelona and Liverpool.

The midfielder has enjoyed an incredible campaign for the Magpies, helping the club gain Champions League qualification.

His current deal on Tyneside runs until the summer of 2026, but now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle are set to offer the Brazilian a fresh new contract – with talks already started.

Romano broke the news on his Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.

“Newcastle are prepared to offer Bruno Guimarães new long term deal — been told discussions have already started, at early stages but ongoing.” he tweeted.

“Barcelona and Liverpool are among top clubs tracking Bruno but they’re aware of Newcastle stance, where Bruno is key player.”

Guimaraes’ sensational campaign has seen him make 40 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies this term.

In those appearances, he has scored five goals, and has assisted on five occasions.

Not only has he helped the club to Champions League qualification, but also to a cup final.

Unfortunately for him, and for Newcastle fans though, lifting a piece of silverware wasn’t to be this season – as they lost 2-0 to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final.

He has also become a regular for the Brazilian national team since arriving on Tyneside.

At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Guimaraes featured in two of Brazil’s five matches as they lost out to Croatia in the quarter-finals.
