Brentford and Danish midfielder Mathias Jensen has put pen to paper on a new three year deal with the Premier League side.

Jensen signed for Brentford in Summer of 2019 and has played over 150 games for the club through both the Championship and Premier League.

The 27-year old has enjoyed a good start to the season with the Bee’s and has scored two goals along with providing 4 assists in the opening half of the campaign which was enough to earn the Dane a new contract.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank spoke about the potential his midfielder has after he secured the contract extension on Wednesday:

“I am pleased to hear that Matti has extended his contract. I think he has been one of our best players so far this season, after a stop-start season last year when he was unlucky with injuries and illness. He is showing what he can offer the team and the potential he has.”

Jensen himself was of course delighted with his contract extension and Brentford released a video on Twitter interviewing their midfielder just after his extension was confirmed.

“The hard work has paid off. It’s been three-and-a-half years at the Club now and I’ve enjoyed every part of it”

Jensen’s contract sees him stay at Brentford until 2026 and he will play his first game since signing when the Bees make the long trip to Elland Road to face Leeds on Sunday.
