Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Brighton ace Alexis Mac Allister, and could have the deal wrapped up by next week after the club activated the Argentine’s release clause.

Mac Allister On The Move

Alexis Mac Allister has been an integral part of the Seagulls’ success this season helping them qualify for the Europa League for the first time in their history. The 24-year-old was their top scorer too with 12 goals of which ten came in the Premier League.

He also won the world cup with Argentina back in December of last year, and was the first Brighton player ever to do so.

After Brighton’s final game of the season, boss Roberto De Zerbi did admit that Mac Allister and in-demand team-mate Moises Caicedo may have played their last game for the club.

De Zerbi said: “I think that can be the last game of Alexis and Moises, I’m really sorry. They are two great people and two great players.”

In 112 games for Brighton, Mac Allister has recorded 20 goals and nine assists. He also scored and assisted in Argentina’s World Cup-winning campaign.

Chelsea’s Mason Mount was reportedly a top target for the Reds, however the England international looks to be close to a move to Manchester United after agreeing personal terms.
