Kyrgyzstan 2023 Asian Cup Preview
Kyrgyzstan go into the 2023 Asian Cup as huge outsiders at odds of 250/1 with football betting apps to win the tournament. This comes as no surprise, given the fact they are appearing in just their second Asian Cup in their countries history.
Their only appearance to date at the Asian Cup came in the 2019 tournament in the UAE. Despite being an unknown team and tipped to bow out at the group stages, Kyrgyzstan progressed to the knockout stages of the tournament on debut. Quite a remarkable feat.
They eventually bowed out to the UAE in the last 16, but almost made to the quarter-finals, but for defeat in extra-time. This year, it comes as no surprise that UK betting sites don’t give Kyrgyzstan any real chance of even qualifying from Group F.
The best online gambling sites make Kyrgyzstan the least likely national to qualify from Group F. Saudi Arabia are the favourites to win it, with both Oman and Thailand also fancied ahead of Kyrgyzstan for Group F success at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
Kyrgyzstan Player To Watch
Given the fact they have only appeared in one Asian Cup to date, a lot of Kyrgyzstan’s squad is made up of unknown quantities. However, looking at their recent form and results of late, it is apparent that they do have a few standout players.
None more so than striker Joel Kojo. Kojo has played just nine games representing his country, but has scored three goals. He scored last time out in a friendly against Vietnam, as well as netting twice for Kyrgyzstan in their win over Kuwait last September.
Kojo now plays his football for club side Dinamo Samarqand in Uzbekistan. His club side finished bottom of the league last season, but Kojo was somewhat of a shining light for them.
He recently scored a brace for Samarqand in the Uzbekistan Cup back in August, and is a man who certainly knows where the back of the net it. Definitely a Kyrgyzstan player to watch at the 2023 Asian Cup.
