Is Tiger Woods Playing In The PGA Championship?

Unfortunately for Tiger fans, he WON’T feature at the PGA Championship this week, after the four-time recipient of the Wanamaker trophy picked up an injury to his ankle at the Masters in April.

Although he made the cut and completed three rounds at Augusta, the post-traumatic arthritis to his ankle required surgery which could keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Last year, the 47-year-old made his return to golf after over a year out due to injuries sustained in a car crash in February 2021. Woods was hospitalised in serious, but stable condition and underwent emergency surgery.

Before playing in the 2022 Masters, he declared that his full-time career as a professional golfer was over but would continue to play the majors.

Woods finished in a tie for 45th place at the Genesis Invitational in February, shooting an overall score of 283 (-1) and successfully making the cut.

He has only appeared at three events in 2023 however, and this latest setback has cast doubt over whether he’ll feature on the circuit at all this term.

• Sergio Garcia will be missing from the field for the second time in 24 years.
• Fellow LIV Golf breakaway stars Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter will be absent.
• Former US Open winner Henrik Stenson will also not feature.
• Will Zalatoris is ruled out with a serious back injury.
