How Many Times Has Aidan O’Brien Won The Epsom Derby?
Head of the Ballydoyle stud O’Brien has trained the winner of the Epsom Derby eight times – more than any other trainer in the long history of the race.
With the O’Brien-trained Auguste Rodin leading the betting with odds of 5/2, he could be on for a ninth Derby win. Furthermore, winning the famous race at Epsom runs in the horse’s family. Auguste Rodin’s Dam’s sire was Galileo, who was O’Brien’s first ever winner in this contest back in 2001.
O’Brien is backing Auguste Rodin to bounce back in the Derby, after a disappointing run in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket last month.
The Ballydoyle stud most recently won the Derby in 2020, when Serpentine won the race as a big outsider at 25/1. O’Brien and his team will hope to be back in the winners’ enclosure with the three horses entered for the contest whether it be with main hope Auguste Rodin, or outsiders San Antonio (25/1) and Adelaide River (50/1)
