The Masters gets underway next week and with one of golf’s biggest prizes on offer to the winner, we take an in depth look at the highest paid golfers 2023 – so who makes the final cut on our top earners list?

10. Patrick Cantlay, USA: $3,831,400

Coming in at number ten on our list and just missing out on ninth spot by a matter of thousands is 31-year old Patrick Cantlay.

Cantlay has earned $3,831,400 so far this season with his highest paid performance coming in the Genesis Invitational where he finished third, earning the player $1,380,000.

Although he is one of very few players on this list to have not won a tournament this year, Cantlay also finished runner up in the Shriners Children’s Open and fourth in the Arnold Palmer Invitational which earned the pro just over $1.5 million.

With the Masters starting next week, Cantlay currently remains a 20/1 shot with most markets to lift golf’s most coveted prize.

9. Jason Day, Australia: $3,863,333

There are only two players on our top earners list who have won under $4 million so far this season, with Jason Day just falling below that mark for his efforts this year.

The Australian comes in at number nine on our list with $3,863,333, however with no wins to his name this season all of Day’s winnings come from top finishes.

Most notably this season Day picked up $800,000 for his fifth place finish in the Phoenix Open in December, with top ten finishes in the Arnold Palmer and the Genesis Invitational also securing the 35-year old just over $1 million.

8. Keegan Bradley, USA: $4,429,524

The oldest player on our list of top ten earners is Keegan Bradley, who has taken home just under $4.5 million so far this season for his performances on the PGA tour.

The 36-year old’s only win of the season came in the Zozo Championship which took place in October last year and winning the tournament earned the 36-year old just under $2 million.

Winning the Zozo Championship this year was a huge achievement for Bradley, who hadn’t won a PGA tournament since 2018 when he just edged Justin Rose to the BMW Championship.

7. Tyrrell Hatton, England: $4,541,394

One of just two British players on our list is Terrell Hatton, who has earned $4,541,394 this season which is a new career high for the 31-year old.

Hatton was a shock runner up in the Players Championship as the player ranked 26th in the world finished runner up to current world number one Scottie Scheffler.

Finishing 12 under par in the Players Championship has no doubt been the highlight of Hatton’s season so far and potentially even his career, with the Wycombe born star still yet to win a tournament this year.

A runner up spot in the Players Championship is still worth plenty of money however, as Hatton came from absolutely nowhere to take home $2.75 million after his phenomenal -7 last round.

6. Sam Burns, USA: $5,300,541

The most recent winner of a PGA Tour event was 26-year old Sam Burns, who was just crowned as the latest World Match Play Championship winner with a win over Cameron Young in the final.

Burns beat an elite list of players during the match play event to pick up his first tour win of the season and the fifth of his career, with the match play event paying out $3.5 million.

Although he has been disappointing most of this season, Burns finished sixth in the Valspar Championship in March and his latest tournament win will be an encouraging sign for the 34/1 shot heading the Masters this year.

5. Rory McIlroy, Northern Ireland: $5,333,286

We are now halfway through our list of elite golfers and just edging the World Match Play Championship winner Sam Burns in season earnings is this years third placed Rory McIlroy.

The Northern Irishman struggled towards the end of the match play tournament, with the 33-year old throwing away a 2 hole lead to Sam Burns. Although he didn’t make it to the final, McIlroy did beat world number one Scottie Scheffler in a third place playoff which saw him go up in the world rankings.

McIlroy is well behind Jon Rahm in this season’s earnings, but despite this his his second place finish in the World Match Play Championship moved him above Rahm to second in the official world golf rankings.

McIlroy has been finishing well in the tour this season despite his recent failings and will attempt to become one of just six players in history to complete the grand slam next week when the Masters begins.

4. Kurt Kitayama, USA: $5,693,388

Kurt Kitayama earned over half of his career earnings this season, after winning his first ever PGA Tour title just weeks ago in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The 30-year old picked up his first ever tournament win after just edging out Rory McIlroy earlier this month and the win was huge in terms of Kitayama’s career earnings with a prize of $3,600,000.

Winning his first career tournament wasn’t the only achievement for Kitayama this season, who also finished runner up in the CJ Cup at the end of last year.

The CJ Cup was a close one for Kitayama, who fell just short of McIlroy by one shot in October with the world number two retaining his title.

3. Max Homa, USA: $7,709,412

Max Homa is ranked at number three on our list and with $7,709,412 he comes in over $2 million above Kitayama in fourth.

Homa has already retained his Fortinet Championship this season, as well as picking up a first career Farmers Insurance Open which earned the player over $1.5 million alone.

At 32-years old Homa is enjoying one of his best seasons on the PGA Tour to date, with the veteran already taking home over $2.5 million more this season than he took last year with over four months left of the tour.

Homa has been much more consistent this season than in the past and with six top ten finishes in ten competitions this season, he is flying up the earnings rankings.

2. Jon Rahm, Spain: $10,048,540

Just missing out on top spot in this seasons PGA tour earnings is Jon Rahm, who was disappointingly knocked out of the most recent WGC Match Play tournament before the knockout rounds.

Rahm has already picked up three titles on tour this season, but despite winning The American Express Open, The Genesis Invitational and the Sentry Tournament of Champions this season, Rahm still remains third in the world golf rankings.

The Spaniard fell to third in the world rankings this week after Rory McIlroy won the third place playoff in the WGC Match Play event, with the Northern Irish star hopping above Rahm in the rankings.

Jon Rahm is currently the joint second favourite to win the Masters this season at 8/1 with most bookmakers, but the market remains as open as ever ahead of the tournament.

1. Scottie Scheffler, USA: $11,631,495

Looking to retain his Masters title next week and the top earner in the PGA this year so far is 26-year old Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler was just been denied a WGC Match Play title rather surprisingly by Sam Burns, however so far in the PGA this season Scheffler has still attained $11,631,495 – which stands over $1.5 million above number two on our list.

This season the popular American has picked up two trophies, with Scheffler making himself favourite for the upcoming Masters after winning the Phoenix Open and more recently the Players Championship which saw the star’s earnings skyrocket.

Having already won golf’s most coveted competition last year, Scheffler will look to increase his already sky high season earnings next week and join elite company by retaining his Masters title this year.
