Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-Min Son has revealed that the feels responsible for the departure of Antonio Conte after the Italian left the London club by mutual consent.

South Korean star Heung-Min Son has said that he feels responsible for the exit of first-team manager Antonio Conte, and has described the Italian as a “world-class” coach.

The final straw for Conte came after Tottenham were held to a 3-3 draw against bottom of the league Southampton.

This came after a poor run of results which also saw Spurs exit the Champions League.

Son was instrumental in Tottenham’s fourth place Premier League finish last term, finishing level with Mohamed Salah as the league’s top scorer.

Despite netting on 23 occasion’s last season, the 30-year-old could only muster six under Conte during this campaign.

His poor form in front of goal has seen him feel personally responsible for his boss’ exit.

“As a player, I am really sorry. He’s a world-class coach, and we had a great journey together,” Son said following South Korea’s loss to Uruguay.

“I should have played better. I feel responsible for his departure, because I haven’t helped the club all that much.

“I’m grateful for what he’s done. He’s such a great coach and has so much experience. I will be rooting for him.”

Spurs have been eliminated from every domestic cup competition, as well as, of course, the Champions League.

Their final remaining hope is a top-four finish to secure Champions League football next term.
