There’s a promising Gabriel Jesus injury update after the striker underwent surgery for a knee injury in early December.

Jesus has been missing for 12 weeks now. His return may come at just the right time for the Gunners. He’ll be coming back into the squad as near crunch time in the title race.

The striker started the season in fine form for Arsenal after joining from Man City last summer. Before the World Cup break the Brazilian had scored five goals in 14 games for the North London side. It wasn’t just his goals that caught the eyes of the fans. His work rate and determination on the field were a big factor in the fantastic start Mikel Arteta’s side made.

Speaking about the return of their main striker, Arteta said:

“He’s progressing well. Doing more and more on the field,

“The knee’s not reacting so it’s really positive. We want him back as quick as possible, but also respecting the timescale that the doctors and the specialists are giving us.”

Arteta sounds positive about the return of Jesus, but will air on the side of caution as to not rush the striker back too soon.

Jesus Injury Update: Returning At The Right Time

Jesus’s return to the team comes at the perfect time for Arsenal.

They’re in for a tense end to the season as they wait to see if they can end their long wait for a Premier League title.

In Jesus’s absence, Eddie Nketiah has led the line for Arsenal. The academy graduate has long yearned for a run of consistent games for Arsenal.

Until last weekend’s game against Leicester City he had started the last 11 games. Against Leicester City, Arteta opted for Leandro Trossard playing as a false nine. The decision paid off as Trossard assisted the goal, but it meant Nketiah was left on the bench.

Jesus returning may mean Nketiah spends more time starting on the bench in the months to come. The Brazilians big game experience, and vitally his experience winning Premier League titles, will play a big part in Arteta’s thinking.
