Frankie Dettori’s Only Ride at Sandown Tonight Will Be Enemy
Sandown Park will host a cracking Brigadier Gerard card this evening that is headlined with the return to the track of 2022 Epsom Derby winner Desert Crown, who is the hot favourite for the feature race at 7:42.
However, another standout performer at the Esher track tonight is a certain Frankie Dettori, who heads to Sandown for just ONE ride.
Frankie is riding in his final season but has already made it one to remember with a 2000 Guineas win earlier this month at Newmarket on Chaldean. He’s got a decent book of rides at Haydock on Saturday too, that include Little Big Bear in the Sandy Lane Stakes – however, before that he’s in action tonight in one race – the Group 3 Henry II Stakes.
Dettori’s only ride on the card is on the Ian Williams-trained ENEMY in the 7:12pm.

Enemy Last Seen Running At Chester
This decent staying flat horse was last seen running 5th in the Ormonde Cup at Chester on May 11th (watch below) – where he was only beaten just over 5 lengths behind the useful Hamish. The step back up in trip here (2m) looks sure to suit and in what doesn’t look the strongest renewal (5 runners) is the clear top-rated in the field at 111.
Enemy’s trainer Ian Williams told the FromTheStables site – “Enemy is in good nick and can put a so-so run at Chester behind him. I hadn’t intended to run him here but when I watched the entries, thought it might not be up to the normal standard for the Henry II Stakes”
