The transfer story taking many by surprise is the news Karim Benzema may be on his way out of Real Madrid. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed we should know by the end of the week.

News broke at the end of last week that Benzema had received an offer from Saudi Arabia side, Al Ittihad.

The 35-year-old striker received an offer from the Saudi Arabia club last Friday. The deal is rumoured to be worth £345m for two years.

There has been speculation over his future as we’ve approached the end of the season, but nothing concrete. The news that a team is willing to pay Benzema big money is worrying for Real Madrid.

Romano has confirmed that Benzema is expected to make his decision before the end of the week.

If he is to leave, he’ll be leaving as a legend of the La Liga club.

Benzema is Real Madrid’s second all-time top goalscorer with 354 strikes credited to his name.

On the future of the strike, Carlo Ancelotti said:

“It’s true that Karim has had his up and downs, but Rodrygo has progressed, [Marco] Asensio has progressed. But it’s also true to say that in the last two years, the problem has not been the forwards.”

Real Madrid have already lined up their replacement. Chelsea’s Kai Havertz is one of their main targets.

All eyes will be on Benzema as we approach the end of the week.
