The bid for Premier League survival will go down to the final day this weekend, with two spots still to be confirmed and three teams battling to keep their heads above water. Both Leeds and Leicester appear to be in a more precarious position according to Everton’s relegation odds, so join us as we evaluate the Toffees’ probability of facing the drop.

Yerry Mina’s 99th minute equaliser last time out against Wolves may prove to be a priceless point by the time the final day has concluded.

Everton, who are one of just six teams never to have been relegated from the Premier League since its inception in 1992, stand perilously close to the edge and are peering down at the chasm below them, which, if they fail to win on Sunday, could swallow them whole.

The Toffees also hold the record for the second-most ongoing successive seasons in the top-flight (68), making the unfamiliarity of Championship football an even more daunting prospect compared to fellow relegation contenders Leeds and Leicester.

When you consider that the Toffees have spent over half-a-billion pounds of transfers since 2016, which is more than recent Premier League and Champions League winners Liverpool, it further compounds the misery and despair that has wormed its way into the foundations of Goodison Park in recent seasons.

The move to their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium in the 2024/25 season will be an uneasy chapter if they take to the field as a second-tier side, but the hope is this current team can steer the club to safety this season with a view to improving in the summer window.

Sean Dyche has done a commendable job to steady a rapidly sinking ship, but four wins in his 17 matches in charge is nowhere near the form required to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Premier League Battle to Be Decided on the Final Day – Who Has the Hardest Fixture?

At one stage, the entirety of the bottom half were in danger of slipping out of the top flight, but Everton are now one of three teams who have been left straggling.

Nevertheless, the final day relegation battle is weighted firmly in their favour. Not only are they two points clear of the drop zone, but they arguably face the easiest opposition, Bournemouth, in the final roll of dice.

Leicester welcome a resurgent West Ham, while Leeds come up against Tottenham, who despite struggling for any kid of form as of late, represent the biggest threat among the three relegation fixtures.

Everton fans need not reminding of the 3-0 drubbing Bournemouth handed them in the reverse of Sunday’s fixture back in November, but a fervent, fanatical Goodison faithful may just lend a helping hand this weekend.
