Former Burnley manager Sean Dyche will take over and replace Frank Lampard as the new Everton boss on a two and a half year deal until 2025.

Dyche has beaten former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa to the job, who was also in the running as the pair formed a two-horse race to take the reigns at Goodison Park.

Everton have lost eight of their last ten games and haven’t won in the Premier League since October 2022, beating Crystal Palace 3-0 at home weeks before the World Cup break.

Dyche guided Burnley to promotion to England’s top flight in 2016 and later earned Europa League qualification with the Clarets before being sacked by the club in April 2022 after nine and a half years.

Can Sean Dyche help Everton avoid relegation for the first time since 1951?

Everton are second-bottom of the Premier League table with 15 points, the same as 20th-placed Southampton after 20 games and two points from safety with Bournemouth in 18th and Wolves in 17th.

According to Premier League betting sites, the Toffees are odds-on to be relegated alongside Southampton and Bournemouth but will hope their new manager will be able to help steer the ship in the right direction.

Dyche said: “It’s an honour to become Everton manager. My staff and I are ready and eager to help get this great club back on track.

“I know about Everton’s passionate fanbase and how precious this club is to them. We’re ready to work and ready to give them what they want. That starts with sweat on the shirt, effort and getting back to some of the basic principles of what Everton Football Club has stood for for a long time.

“We want to bring back a good feeling. We need the fans, we need unity and we need everyone aligned. That starts with us as staff and players.”
