Cheltenham Gold Cup Tip: AHOY SENOR @ 14/1
ITV Racing expert Chris Hughes thinks the current Cheltenham Gold Cup outsider – AHOY SENOR – will defy his 14/1 odds and triumph in the Gold Cup.
Hughes, who knows a thing or two about picking a winning horse, feels the 8-year-old has the best credentials to land the 2023 Cheltenham Festival showcase race.
The Gold Cup trip of 3m 2 1/2f will be the furthest Ahoy Senor has gone, but he won impressively last time out around this course in January over 3m 1 1/2f and stayed on well.
Ahoy Senor will have to run a huge race if he is to beat the likes of the favourite Galopin Des Champ, and will also face a strong challenge from last year’s Gold Cup winner A Plus Tard. While he’s also likely to meet the 2022 Grand National winner Noble Yeats and King George VI Chase hero Bravemansgame.
Ahoy Senor boasts some strong form coming into this year’s Gold Cup, and the former Love Island star thinks he has what it takes to win the big one here. He finished second in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase last year, and will need to produce a big run in a race two furlongs longer if he is to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase.
